Tickets: $35 each ($40 at the door) or $325 to reserve a full table (10 tickets). Tables on sale until May 31st or until sold out.
Overview: (19+) Get ready to dance your queer little heart out. This is the big one β our signature Saturday night Pride dance featuring "the funk, hip-hop party machine of Victoria", The New Groovement. Featuring a full horn section, congas, timbales, guitar, bass and drums - they'll have everyone out on the dance floor. In between sets, the incredible DJ Krista Mac will keep the the energy up and the dance floor full! Mina Mercury, the Queen of characters, will also be taking the stage to deliver her signature brand of drag magic, blending uncanny impressions with powerhouse performances to ensure this is a Pride dance youβll never forget.
This is a 19+ event with a licensed bar, but no oneβs expected to drink to enjoy themselves. There will be plenty of water, non-alcoholic options, and quiet corners to take a break, regroup, or recharge. The Safe Space Crew will be on hand throughout the night to help you feel welcome and supported.
What this event is:
This is a 19+ indoor Pride dance held in a large ballroom. It includes DJ sets by DJ Krista Mac and a full live band performance by The New Groovement, with open dancing throughout the evening. Sound will be amplified and lighting will be dim with dynamic and colourful decorative lighting, but no strobes. Itβs a high-energy environment with lots of movement and music, but thereβs space to take breaks and step out if needed.
Accessibility:
Mobility: Fully wheelchair-accessible venue with elevator access from ground level (parkade or street access through the Visitor Centre).
Seating: A mixture of low tables with chairs, and high cocktail tables throughout the venue. Some couches in the lobby areas as well. Reserved accessibility seating available upon request. Companion seating is also accommodated. Please email [email protected] to arrange.
Restrooms: 2 gender-inclusive multi-stall washrooms with 1 accessible stall in each.
Parking and Transit: A 300-space underground parking garage provides quick and easy access to the VICC. You can also reference the City of Nanaimoβs Parking Map, or access limited, free street parking is also available on Commercial Street and the surrounding area. Bus routes 1,5,6,30, and 20(A) will bring you closest to the event. Find more transit info here.
Other Services: Water and food will be available on-site. Coat racks. There is no interpretation or captioning at this event. There is no dedicated sensory support space, however, a quiet room will be available.
Safe Space Commitment: This event upholds Nanaimo Pride's Safe Space Directive, ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment for all attendees. Safe Space Crew will be onsite to provide support if needed.
Sensory Notes: Loud music and dynamic lighting (no strobes); 400+ attendees expected.
