This 'herstory' cycle tour follows the wheel tracks of New Zealand's most famous suffragist, Kate Sheppard.
Christchurch was the home of Kate Sheppard and her courage and tenacity against strong opposition brought voting rights to all women in 1893— giving NZ boasting rights for being the first country in the world to do so! This experience gives you all the inside story as you wheel past and visit so many photo-worthy sites
What to expect:
- Level: easy. Total time of cycle tour, tea and house: 2 hrs
- Maximum 8 riders + guide
- ⏳ Cycling tour length: 1 hour with stops at 12 fascinating locations
- ☕️Includes the morning tea at Kate Sheppard's former home
- Includes a tour of the house museum ends at 11am

- Return a signed copy of our Health & Safety form on your booking
- A bike and comfortable clothing (dress for the weather!)'

📍 Meet at 9:00am on the green river bank in front of the Kate Sheppard Memorial located behind the Municipal Building which is on the corner of Oxford Terrace & Worcester StreetStand in front of the life-like statues of Kate Sheppard and the remarkable suffragists who fought for equality for women at the national memorial.

You will see the early Tuam Street Public Hall (New Zealand's first town hall) where Kate Sheppard held her suffrage rallies to register voting women in 1893.
