About this Event
The Black Women's Mental Health Institute is pleased to present the 2026 Mental Health Equity and Liberation Summit. This event is held in recognition of July as Mental Health Liberation Month.
Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, LGBTQIA and various other speakers have been invited to share their perspectives on what it means to provide culturally responsive care and services.
Thanks to the support of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) African American Studies Program, this year's event will take place July 23, 2026 at the UAB Alumni House in Birmingham, Alabama.
About the Summit
The Mental Health Equity and Liberation Summit is a unique national event that focuses on the importance of cultural competence in mental health care and advocacy. The summit is open to the public and scheduled for July 23, 2026.

The Culture of Care - A Decade of Building Collective Wellness
Who Should Attend
This event focuses on collaborative conversations about improving quality of mental care and dismantling stigma for minority populations. Target audiences include licensed mental health counselors, university students with interest in mental health, non-profit professionals, social workers, nurses, peer support specialists, educators, consumers (and loved ones), mental health advocates, community health organizers and religious leaders.

A total of 8 NBCC Contact Hours are available to summit participants.
