2026 Joint Annual Meeting of VATWS and AFS

Registration is now open for the Joint Annual Meeting of AFS and TWS Virginia Chapters to be held at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA from March 9th-11th, 2026. Please use this link to register for the meeting. Registration is required for all members attending the meeting. Registration costs will be $80 for Professional members and free for Student members. Registration include dinner for Monday, March 9th and Tuesday, March 10th. Lunch will be provided on Tuesday, March 10th. Snacks will be provided throughout the meeting.

Workshops:

Up to four workshops will be offered concurrently for the afternoon of Monday, March 9th from 2:00-5:00pm at VMI. Please indicate your interest in attending one of the following workshops (select only one). Please note that workshops are contingent on participant interest, are limited to a maximum class size, and are not guaranteed. Members interested in workshops will be contacted with additional information prior to the meeting.

Call for Abstracts:

We are now accepting abstract submissions for the Joint Annual Meeting of AFS and TWS Virginia Chapters to be held at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA from March 9th-11th, 2026. Please submit an abstract (250 words) for Oral Presentations (15 minute talks), Lightning Talks (7 minutes), and Posters in this Google Form by January 31, 2026. We are soliciting abstracts for two joint sessions, Fish and Wildlife Management and Conservation in Urban Settings and AI in Fisheries and Wildlife Research and Management, as well as submissions for general sessions from each organization (i.e. General AFS & General TWS). In the google form please select the session that best suits your abstract when prompted.

Lodging details for the Joint Meeting:

Rooms have been blocked for the meeting dates (March 9-11) at the Hampton Inn, Lexington (401 E. Nelson St. Lexington, VA 24450) at the GSA Per Diem rate of $110 per night (not including tax). To reserve a room in this block, please reserve by phone (540-600-3410) or online (https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/lxtswhx-hampton-lexington-historic-district select “Special Rates” in search, and enter “AFS” under group code) by February 7th . The Group block code is AFS and group name American Fisheries. Rooms can be cancelled up to 72 hours prior to the reservation date without penalty. Check-in after 3 PM and check out before 11 AM. Breakfast (6-10AM) is included
