⚜️🏕️ 2026 Jefferson County Distinguished Citizens Award 🏕️⚜️Join us April 28, 2026 | 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the beautiful Bavarian Inn, Resort and Brewing Company on Shepherd Grade Road for a special evening honoring hometown historian Doug Perks, all while supporting Scouting in Jefferson County, WV.
A Jefferson County native, Doug is a graduate of West Virginia University and James Madison University, and served 30 years with Jefferson County Schools. His lifelong dedication to preserving our local heritage includes leadership roles with the Jefferson County Historical Society, the Historic Shepherdstown Commission, and numerous community organizations.
Author of The Civil War Years in Jefferson County, Virginia (2023) and Charles Washington’s Town (2025), Doug’s work reflects the very values Scouting strives to instill, service, leadership, and a commitment to community.
