2026 International Women's Day Celebration - GiveToGain
Come join Soroptimist International of Cambridge for a fun-filled event celebrating women. The free event will kick off with a walk through the downtown Galt area of Cambridge to the University of Waterloo School of Architecture, where we will continue the festivities indoors. This year's dynamic keynote speaker will be Lillie Proksch, Community Engagement Specialist at Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. It's a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and celebrate the achievements of women around the world. Don't miss out on this empowering event! Purple is the official colour of International Women's Day (IWD). We'd love to see you express your support by wearing something purple!
In support of our community partners the Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region and the YWCA Cambridge - Women's Emergency Homeless Shelter we welcome your donation of shampoo, conditioner and deodorant.
What To Expect....
- Registration at the starting point (50 Dickson St - City Hall) Here is where you will meet up and connect with other event walkers (everyone welcome). Grab an International Women's Day signs that you can carry during the walk. The excitement builds and the walk begins.
- Route: City Hall to Wellington St turn right; Wellington St to Main St turn right; Main St to Melville St. We will stop on the bridge for some photos and cheers.
- After an uplifting stroll with 100+ like-minded supporters, the celebration continues indoors at UW (7 Melville St). Water and a small snack will be provided. Please note that there is a water filling station if you bring your reusable bottle. Welcome remarks and our inspiring keynote speaker will leave you empowered to do your part to GiveToGain for gender equality. We are pleased and excited to present some local charities with a donation and Envision Education Grants to Women in Skilled Trades sponsored by our Soroptimist Trust.
Who is Lillie Proksch.....
Lillie is the creator and producer of the She Is Your Neighbour podcast and is often seen on the Women's Crisis Services social media channels, educating the community about initiatives, upcoming event, and the She Is Your Neighbour project. She enjoys getting creative in front of the camera....particularly when developing content for Instagram and TikTok.
Lillie is a dynamic and compelling speaker who is grateful for the opportunity to mix her passions of advocacy and non-traditional media.
