"Westward Women," Martin’s debut novel, weaves together the stories of women seeking freedom and selfhood in an unsettled America, capturing a portrait of a nation defined not by one story, but by many.
An assistant professor of English studies at Western Carolina University, she received her PhD in American Literature from Rutgers University. Her writing has appeared in the Carolina Quarterly, Appalachian Heritage, Triangle House Review, and elsewhere.
