GMGI's Education and Workforce Development Conference
The 2026 Education & Workforce Development Conference, hosted by Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute, will focus on the importance of collaboration in building a resilient life sciences workforce. As the biotechnology and life science industry continues to face uncertainty and cycles of rapid growth and contraction, the conference will provide a forum to explore how education providers, workforce training organizations, industry partners, public officials, and funders can work together in a more proactive and coordinated way to prepare for future downturns.
A key area of emphasis will be strengthening and stabilizing career pathways for individuals trained through alternative routes and community colleges, ensuring these learners are not disproportionately impacted during periods of economic volatility. The aim of the conference is to develop collaborative strategies that promote long-term workforce sustainability, equitable access to opportunity, and a strong, diverse talent pipeline for the life sciences sector.
Through shared perspectives and candid discussion, participants will identify practical solutions to better anticipate change, respond collectively, and build an inclusive workforce that is adaptable and prepared for the future.
