About this Event
We are moving the Community Resources event to the heart of East Austin, so I wanted to share some exciting updates below regarding this year's festival.
The Urban Music and Cultural Festival (UMCF), Food for Health powered by AHF, the Black Leadership AIDS Crisis Coalition (BLACC), and other community partners will come together to set up a fresh-food community drive offering fresh fruits and vegetables to feed 400 - 500 Austin families as part of UMCF's 20th Year Anniversary's Community Resources Day event on Friday, April 3, 2026 at the Millennium Youth and Entertainment Center, 1156 Hargrave St, Austin, TX 78702 from 10p - 2p.
In addition to the food giveaway, partner agencies will also be hosting a Health and Wellness Day (Vital Checks, Women's Health, Men's Health, Mental Health, Fitness Sessions, Health Screenings, Food & Nutrition, and HIV/AIDS "Free Testings/Sexual Health) and a Workforce Job Readiness Symposium, as well as, a Workforce Job Readiness and Work-based Learning Symposium featuring Resume Building, Financial Literacy Education, Job Readiness Preparation, On-the-Spot Job Training Referrals, Soft Skills Training and Interview Prep. Everything is FREE and open to the public.
The Digital Workforce Academy and other partners will raffle Festival tickets to individuals who attend the Community Resources Day event throughout the day. Other vendors will be raffling off gift cards and even a set of Beats by Dre.
Come and interact with public and private employers from the Central Texas area looking assist attendees with workforce readiness and job preparedness. A number of employers will also be interviewing for possible job placements.
The overarching goal of this initiative is to serve as a resource that aids in the preparation of our community’s citizens to enter the workforce by providing information regarding various educational and technical programs leading to career paths at the community college level and four-year college level via bridge programs between community college and university level. Additionally, our goal is to provide "free" Health and Wellness resources to positively impact persons in our community.
