This dinner offers guests a closer look at his approach through an intimate, chef-driven experience.
The evening will feature passed items followed by a four-course menu crafted in collaboration with Broadmoor Bistro’s culinary students—an experience centered on mentorship, creativity, and shared learning.
Chef Narrative
Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chef David Ruiz brings over two decades of experience shaped by culture, community, and a deep respect for ingredients. As Executive Chef at the Overland Park Convention Center, he has transformed a traditionally large-scale operation into a nationally recognized model focused on sustainability, innovation, and flavor, sourcing locally and operating with a zero-waste mindset.
Chef David’s career includes honors such as winning the James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project, being named Chef of the Year by the International Fresh Produce Association, and earning top recognition on Food Network’s It’s CompliPlated. Beyond accolades, he is known as a passionate mentor, committed to building inclusive kitchens and guiding the next generation of culinary professionals.
This dinner reflects his belief that food is a powerful tool for connection, education, and positive change.
