We’re excited to launch the first AMT Progressive Horsemanship Clinic at the new Gidgegannup facilities.This two-day clinic is designed to develop clarity, connection and confidence — for both horse and rider — grounded in classical training principles and supported by modern horsemanship understanding.
Saturday – Foundation & Groundwork Focus
Day one begins with groundwork and in-hand exercises designed to improve:
• Posture and rider awareness
• Biomechanics and movement patterns
• Connection and attunement
• Emotional regulation and relaxation
• Development of balance and self-carriage
We’ll explore practical exercises that improve communication and build a calm, confident partnership before progressing into ridden work.
Sunday – Riding & Refinement
Day two continues into ridden sessions focusing on:
• Correct rider posture and biomechanics
• Clarity and refinement of aids
• Developing softness, straightness and balance
• Self-carriage and responsiveness
• Supporting green horses and early education
• Addressing issues created by inconsistency or lack of clarity
The emphasis is on correct, progressive training that improves the horse’s understanding while increasing rider feel and effectiveness.
Format
• Small group sessions (4–6 riders per group)
• Morning and afternoon sessions across the weekend
• Individualised feedback within group format
• Opportunities for one-on-one engagement
• Supportive, inclusive learning environment
Suitable for beginners through to advanced riders.
Green horses through to more established combinations welcome.
English or Western riders are welcome.
Work in bit, snaffle, double, hackamore or bitless — clarity and correctness matter more than equipment.
