Technical Tour Wednesday, April 22 (9:00 AM – 4:30 PM) – Focus will be on the wildland fire hazardous fuels mitigation in the area and effectiveness of these treatments where wildland fire hazard mitigation treatments were applied. This will be in conjunction with the All Hands, All Lands working group that is meeting on Tuesday.
Highlights include:
• Field tour examining long-term fuels mitigation and forest restoration projects
• Technical presentations from forestry professionals and researchers
• AK SAF annual membership meeting and planning workshop
• Presentations on national and state SAF programs and resources
• Technology in forestry sessions including drones, AI, soil science, and fire science
Tour Fee: $25 (includes lunch and refreshments), $15 for Students.

Transportation
You can fly in from Anchorage and we will pick folks up at the airport as needed, let us know your arrival day and time. We are willing to coordinate a shuttle from Anchorage if there is a need. Car renting and driving to Kenai? We will set up a traveler log for ride sharing. One of the nicest drives in Alaska, and only 3 hours with rest stops.
Possibility for a Shuttle from Anchorage, and we will shuttle to and from Kenai Airport and from local hotels.
Lodging
Please book early. Rooms are tight in the area, due to a local hotel fire and Marathon Oil having their annual ‘TURNAROUND’ maintenance shut down.
