About this Event
The WSU Beach Naturalists Program provides Snohomish County residents with the opportunity to turn environmental knowledge into action. Through this multi-day training, participants will learn about Salish Sea habitats and species, conservation efforts, and ways that you can get involved locally. This training is taught by regional experts and includes Zoom classroom sessions and field trips. Some of the topics that will be covered include: Salish Sea zonation & tides, seaweeds and seagrasses, intertidal species (sponges, sea stars, shellfish, crabs, etc.), and community science opportunities.
April 11th - May 9th 9:30am-12:30pm
Zoom sessions will be offered on: April 16, 18, 23, 30, and May 7
Field Trips during low tides on : April 11, 25, 27, May 2 and 9
Registration: $110, Early Bird before March 14th $95. Registration closes on April 9th. Space is limited! Scholarships are available for qualifying participants.
Upon completion of the training, participants are encouraged to volunteer 20+ hours for the Beach Naturalist Summer Days programs at one of the following beaches during the summer: Kayak Point, Mukilteo Lighthouse Park and Olympic Beach in Edmonds.
