2020 WINTERNSHIP JANUARY 3 - FEBRUARY 3
During this unique and experiential month together you will learn many skills in Natural Building, Sustainable Living and Community ! Fill out the applicaiton on-line, recieve approval, then buy the ticket at Eventbrite.
The program will include the following weekend workshops for intern and the public:
• Thatching & Reed Collection Jan 11 & 12, 2025
• Round Pole Framing Jan 18 & 19, 2025
* Earth Plaster & Sculpting Jan 25 & 26, 2025
• Rocket Stove & Earth Oven Jan 28 & 29, 2025

Participants will be living, learning and working together during this one-month Program.
Each week:
• Natural Building & Sustainability Classes/Activities, plus whittling, cording, fermenting, music-making, bonfires, creating & sharing meals. Lecture classes on site, design, foundation +
• Preparing for the upcoming weekend workshop
• 2 days off.
Other Community Events that may happen in addition to the 4 weekend workshops:
• Permaculture Meetup off-site
• Full Moon Potluck & Bonfire.You will receive a printed folder of handouts (and access to online copies) for our classes on foundations, round pole framing, stoves, earth plasters and more.
LOCATION
On this beautiful rural wooded land 1 hour North of Detroit. Six miles outside a lovely small town, surrounded by farms, forests and meadows. Within 6 miles of the Strawbale Studio there are some very nice outdoor opportunities: Bald Mountain Recreation Center, The Seven Ponds Recreation Center and the Rails to Trails bike path system, connecting several small towns. (There is a bike available to use). Two swimming lakes and a series of connected lakes to explore by canoe.
INSTRUCTOR
Main Instructor & Coordinator, Deanne Bednar, is the illustrator of the Hand-Sculpted House & the Natural Plaster Book, and has 25 years of experience in natural building. Background: Art & Sustainable Futures teacher at the middle school level. Loves to forage, use materials directly from nature in an artful and practical way !
GREEN EXCHANGE
2 Program Options: Full Internship or 1/2 Pay Worktrade Internship. Limited to 8 total participants in the program. Woofing not available this intensive month.
The program includes the following for ALL participants:
- all classes, workshops & materials
- all share in household activities such as cooking & cleaning.
- room & board as needed
• Intern = Focus on the Projects. Cost for the moth activities: $1200 (or $950 prepaid 1 month in advance).
- ½ pay WorkTrade 2 positions available $625 / $475* * Paid 1 month in advance. 10 hr/wk would be applied toward a given areas such as Outreach/ Office, Building & Grounds, Gardening, Household, etc.

- When your application is received, your references will be contacted. Deanne will get back with you. If accepted into the program….
- Make a payment through Eventbrite or Other.
