Welcome to our first Winter Family Wilderness Skills Weekend in the Pine Barrens at the Citta Boyscout Camp in Barnegat!
This weekend will inspire you and your family to get outdoors through the colder seasons to come. This weekend is intended for all ages to embrace the lessons from Grandfather Winter. It will present it's own challenges camping in cold weather. We will have the luxury of the Citta Camp kitchen, bathrooms, and dining hall to warm up, share meals together in a warm building. As always lessons and the "story" of the weekend will evole as we get closer. Be sure that it will be full of adventures for both the Teens, Little Ones and Parents. There are possibilities of traveling into the Pines, hand skills, tracking, fire making, and as always open to the Great Mystery to guide us.
All meals will be provided (dinner on Friday, breakfast/lunch/dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday); please include any dietary restrictions in your registration.
Each family must bring basic, personal camping gear! You will receive a recommended packing list with your confirmation (also included below).

Recommended gear list:
- Tent (with rain fly and ground cloth)
- Tarp and rope (for additional rain protection)
- A sleeping bag for each participant (rated for 15 degrees or lower)
- Bring extra blankets as it will be cold!
- Sleeping Pad(s) (rated for cold weather camping)
- Towels
- Rain Gear and Additional layers for warmth in various weather conditions
- Hat, Beanie and Gloves - extra pairs if they get wet
- Two pairs of shoes, hard soled shoes are recommended
- Flashlight / headlamp
- Bandana
- Water Bottle (1 per person minimum)
- Eating Utensils: Bowl, plate, cup / mug, spoon, fork
- Toiletry items (biodegradable soap only please)
- Journal and writing utensil
- Bug repellent, preferably natural/non-toxic
- Non-folding carving knife (we have some to borrow or purchase if you do not have one)
- Sunglasses and sunscreen
- Tweezers for tick removal
- Folding chairs
- If it cannot get dirty, do not bring it!
As we will be at the Citta Boyscout Camp we can drive directly to the camp area, which makes loading in those extra warm layers much easier.
