Course Description
The WakeMed 2025 SHIINE Conference represents more than 20 years of igniting health care providers to improve their practice and inspire excellence while focusing on the newest innovations, research and evidence-based practices in neuroscience.
Target Audience
Attending the SHINE Conference are more than 150 health care providers with levels of experience ranging from 1 to more than 30 years. Attendees include emergency, acute and rehab nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, advanced practice providers, and case managers.
Credit & Disclosures
Nursing Education Department at WakeMed is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
WakeMed Physical Therapy Department has applied to the APTA NC for course approval for physical therapy continuing education hours.
No one with the ability to control content of this activity has a relevant financial relationship with an ineligible company except for the following:
- Dr. Tim Ryan – faculty member - consultant for Neurelis, UBC, and Takeda; investigator for Xenon Pharmaceuticals
- Melanie Doster – planning committee member – in the last 24 months, owned stock in Pfizer
- All financial relationships have been mitigated.
To receive course credit:
- Participants must attend the entire conference and submit a course evaluation..
- To receive the additional 1 of optional credit for the poster session, participants must submit a separate evaluation and attest that they viewed at least 6 posters.
- All evaluations must be submitted no later than midnight 3/20/2025.
Course Credits:
- Up to 7 Nursing and Physical Therapy Contact Hours (1 for optional Poster Session) APTA NC approval pending
- 4 WakeMed Trauma Hours
- 3 WakeMed Stroke Hours

PDF handouts will be available for download via this link approximately 1 week before the conference.
Food
- Breakfast will not be provided. Please make your own arrangements.
- Food may be purchased at Cafe 3000 or Panera Bread inside the main hospital.
- A light snack and lunch are included in the registration fee.
Parking
- WakeMed Employees should park in designated employee parking areas.
- Guests of WakeMed may park in Visitor Parking (P1), please allow adequate time to walk from P1 to Andrews Center
- The circle in front of the Andrews Center is available for drop off.
