Agenda

πŸ•‘: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
Designing & Dyeing with Fungi - Biomaterials
Host: Amy (She/Her) from Genspace Biomaterial Studio

Info: Our hands-on workshop explores the innovative intersection of art, biology, and sustainability through making bioart using fungi as well as its dye potential. Participants will learn how to work with a pre-colonized mycelium grow bag to create exciting forms to take home. Additionally, the workshop will delve into the process of extracting and applying natural fungal dyes from accessible mushrooms, demonstrating their potential as both an artistic medium and a sustainable alternative to synthetic dyes. Through experimentation and collaboration, attendees will learn about how fungi can be cast into both functional and aesthetic works of bioart that live at the intersection of biology. art and design.

πŸ•‘: 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM
Fungal Relationships - Mycology & Ecology
Host: Luke Sarrantonio (He/Him)

Info: In this ecological world we live in, symbiotic relationships are the essential fabric of life. These connections are often facilitated by a Kingdom/Queendom/Kindom of organisms that are largely unseen to our naked eye. We’re talking about Fungi! Through this presentation and discussion, we'll explore aspects of ecology that are often overlooked and make some insights into how we might benefit from understanding these relationships more.

πŸ•‘: 03:00 PM - 04:00 PM
MIND-BODY-CONNECTION: Medicinal Mushrooms for resiliency -Functional mushrooms
Host: Matt Kiser (He/him)

Info: Medicinal mushrooms sit at the intersection of many points of fungal intrigue. Their nutritional value (most are edible), nootropic properties (cognitive enhancement), historical and cultural reverence, even their eye-catching presence in the wild- these are all exciting points of entry into the world of fungal holistic health. In this workshop, we will explore these intersections by focusing on a small variety of common medicinal mushrooms. Participants will join us in a cordyceps tea ceremony, followed by short lectures and group discussion. We hope to help others experience and understand how these mushroom medicines can positively impact their daily lives.

πŸ•‘: 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Grow Cordyceps at Home: Beginner's Workshop - Mushroom Growing
Host: Cameron (He/Him) from Cams Urban Farm

Info: Join our "Grow Cordyceps at Home: Beginner's Workshop" and discover how easy it can be to cultivate your own Cordyceps mushrooms! This hands-on session is perfect for beginners and will guide you through the entire process using simple materials like Uncle Ben's Ready Rice to eliminate the need for high tech equipment.
You'll learn the basics of Cordyceps cultivation, from inoculation to harvesting, in a fun and supportive environment. Plus, we're giving away 40 free Cordyceps growing kits to participants, so you can start your mushroom-growing journey right away. Don't miss this opportunity to learn, grow, and take home everything you need to get started!

πŸ•‘: 05:00 PM - 06:00 PM
Magic Mushrooms and the Mycelial Nature of Community - a Psychedelic Panel
Host: Colin (he/him) From Brooklyn Psychedelic Society

Much like the mycelial networks beneath the forest floor, magic mushrooms teach us about connection, collaboration, and building strong, supportive communities. From fostering shared intentions and integration practices to creating spaces for growth and healing, this panel is a space to reflect on how these ancient tools help inspire us to weave deeper connections and strengthen our collective roots.
