The retreat, "Marks of the Order of Malta", will be lead by Rev. Joseph M. Rampino, parochial vicar at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Arlington, VA and an associate chaplain in the Federal Association of the Order of Malta.
The Order of Malta calls its members to personal holiness and service to the poor and the sick, including a yearly retreat. Retreat leader Fr. Rampino will offer a series of reflections on the distinctive marks of the Order (Tuitio and Obsequium, Sovereign, Military, Hospitaller, etc.), and what it means for each of us to live them out in our own spiritual lives.
The retreat will begin with Mass in the chapel of the magnificent Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine at 4:30 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025. The new Shrine, dedicated in 2023, houses the remains of Blessed Stanley Rother. This will be an opportunity to venerate the first US diocesan priest to be declared a Martyr of the Church. Blessed Stanley was beatified by Pope Francis in September 2017. The remainder of the retreat will be in the pastoral center.
Cocktail hour and dinner Friday evening will begin at 7 pm in the refectory of the Catholic Pastoral Center.
The retreat will conclude with Mass in the Saint Francis de Sales chapel at 11:00am on Sunday. Families are encouraged to join us for this Mass.
Located about 30 minutes from the Oklahoma City airport, the Catholic Pastoral Center at 7501 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73132 is the main office for Archbishop Paul Coakley and the curia of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. As a former high school seminary, it includes 60 bedrooms for overnight accommodation.
The retreat is open to all members, candidates, auxiliary, associates, spouses, family and friends of the Order of Malta.
There will be ample opportunities for fellowship where we can better get to know each other. Daily Mass, Reconciliation, and Morning and Evening Prayer will be offered. We will conclude on Sunday at noon. Please be advised that space is limited. Cost is $250 per person
