The LECALE program provides participants with a rigorous and relevant training curriculum culminating with accreditation through UF-IFAS and Florida Farm Bureau Agriculture Education Services & Technology, Inc. (AEST). The LECALE program is a local, in-state program delivered at a Florida location that can support both classroom and field education events and is designed to meet the needs of Florida law enforcement and state agency personnel. The LECALE curriculum is delivered by credentialed subject matter experts through integrative cooperation with Florida law enforcement professionals. The LECALE training program addresses Florida specific conditions and enables LEOs to do their jobs more efficiently and uniformly across the state. Attendees receive instruction in generally accepted livestock production practices, skills to discern acceptable animal well-being, and the ability to apply acquired knowledge and skills in the field and during litigation proceedings. Learning objectives emphasize knowledge gain in basic animal husbandry, animal identification, behavior and handling, nutrition and feeding, forages and pasture management, disease and biosecurity, euthanasia, body condition scoring, and live animal evaluations. The training equips LEOs with the ability to be vigilant for threats to our food supply system by natural and man-made causes. The accompanying certification program adds to the credibility of this clientele group when they present their testimony in a court of law and make difficult decisions in livestock neglect cases. There will be a $100 non-refundable fee. After ticket purchase if you are not able to attend you will only be refunded $290.
