About this Event
Community Composter School is an opportunity for folks who work with an existing compost site (often at a community garden) to become advanced compost managers and skilled compost educators. Supplies are provided and consultation will be available to each participant as you make progress with your compost site. Attend this info session for more details and to start your application to be part of the 2025 cohort.
There are 6 modules in the program, with 1-2 supplemental field trips. Some sessions will take place on Zoom but most will be in person, outdoors, with hands-on activities. CCS sessions will mostly take place every other Tuesday evening in April, May, and June. Modules include topics on soil and decomposition science, compost basics and composting systems, compost site design and management, rebuilding urban soils, and reaching and teaching others. Learn from soil and compost educators at Grow Pittsburgh and Pasa Sustainable Agriculture, as well as local community composting leaders who'll share their stories and skills.
