In recognition of our nation's heroes, the community is invited to the Hope & Honor 9/11 5K on Thursday, September 11. This event will be held, rain or shine, at 8:15 a.m. on September 11, with check-in beginning at 7:45 a.m. Individuals, businesses, and groups are encouraged to run, walk, or roll in honor of our nation’s heroes.

The event will start on the Cedar Prairie Trail, next to the Scott Sterrett memorial marker. Parking is available at the Falls Aquatic Center (3025 South Main Street). Check-in will be held at Paw Park (3200 South Main Street).
The first 100 5K finishers will receive a medal courtesy of CODE 4 Public Safety Emblems, LLC. In lieu of an entry fee, attendees are asked to bring two non-perishable food items to be donated to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Cedar Falls Hy-Vee will be providing donuts and water.
In dedication of the 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment, as well as all those who have served our nation, participants are encouraged to ‘Run in Honor.’ Those who wish to run, walk, or roll in honor of a loved service member will be given a sticker that will display the name of that service member. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own remembrance tags, stickers, or shirts as well.
The event will also include informational booths on-site at Paw Park from veterans and healthcare organizations, including UNI Military and Veteran Student Services, UnityPoint Health Black Hawk-Grundy Mental Health Center, Veteran Affairs of Black Hawk County, Retrieving Freedom, Inc., and Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI).
