About this Event
As we wrap up winter quarter, it is time to celebrate what the newest class of student carillonists in the guild has accomplished in their first quarter with the carillon! Each year, five new members are selected from dozens of auditionees in the fall, and they learn and play the 72-bell carillon at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel until they graduate from the University of Chicago. This year, they are Yixin Chen, Peter (Lingyue) Jiang, Shuya van Dooijeweert, Will Vanman, and Y. Samanda Zhang, presenting their best works thus far!
You will listen on the ground level with a livestream of the playing cabin in the tower and light refreshments. The event is free of charge and open to all with no RSVP needed. Suggested donation: $5, free with UChicago ID. The chapel is also open to visitors every week Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., with carillon tower tours beginning at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Additional information can be found on the guild linktree.
