Blossom Kite Festival presented by Amazonreturns to the National Mall for high-flying family
fun!
Bring your own kite, pick up a free kite kit while
supplies last that you can decorate, or purchase
the official 2025 Festival kite onsite or online at
NCBFStore.org.
Kite enthusiasts, beginners,
families, friends, young and old—all are welcome to
this free event.
The 2025 Blossom Kite Festival will be filled with
sensational sights and music.
Check out some of the
highlights below.
• Engage in building your own kite with a
customizable kite kit provided by Amazon and
join in on the fun!
• Be mesmerized by Mikio Toki, a master of
traditional Edo-style kites, who is traveling all
the way from Japan to showcase his kites for
attendees!
• Watch choreographed performances and
demonstrations by Wings Over Washington
Kite Club, Fire & Ice, the One Man Kite Team, and
other nationally and internationally recognized
professional kite fliers.
• Test your kite-pulling strength in the bol races
on the Family Field sponsored by Mars,
Incorporated.
• Cheer on the kite makers of tomorrow as they
show off their creativity and skills in the Youth
Kite Makers Competition supported by
Washington Parent Magazine.
• Join master builders from LEGO Discovery
Center Washington DC with a community art
project, creating a giant cherry blossom mosaic!
Get your own base plate with instructions on how
to create solo or with a parent or friend - then add
your piece!
• Enjoy family-friendly performances by Iya &
The Kuumba Kids, The Frizz & Unknown Artist,
Orquesta Manplesa, Dante Pope, Kenny Allen,
and Wes Felton.
• Experience plenty of fun and educational kids’
activities from community partners Planet
Word, DC Public Library, National Postal Museum,

Don’t miss the Blossom Kite Festival on Saturday,
March 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the
Washington Monument Grounds.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the rain date is Sunday, March 30.
Food and beverage options onsite are
limited, so why not bring your own picnic and
settle in with your blanket to fully enjoy a day
of vibrant kites soaring above the National
Mall? It’s a great way to soak up the season’s
