Southern Unity Movement Announces 24th Annual Bayard Rustin/Audre Lorde Community Breakfast.

Celebrating the Legacy of Civil Rights Icons and Advocating for Black LGBTQ+ Communities and our allies
Atlanta Ga - The Southern Unity Movement Inc.is proud to announce the 24th annual Bayard Rustin/Audre Lorde Community Breakfast, set to take place on January 20, 2025, at the Loudermilk Conference Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This event honors the remarkable legacies of civil rights architect and activist Bayard Rustin and equal rights activist, feminist, warrior, and poet, Audre Lorde.
Founded in January 2002, the Rustin/Lorde Breakfast has become a cornerstone event, offering a unique opportunity for attendees to connect, educate, and support one another before participating in the Martin Luther King, Jr.
March. The breakfast aims to:
Provide a platform for attendees to connect and share experiences.
Educate communities about the life and contributions of Bayard Rustin, Audre Lorde, and other activists.
Enhance mutual support and continued learning among participants working for social justice.
"This breakfast is more than just an event; it's a tradition that fosters unity, advocacy, and cultural education within the Black LGBTQ+ community," said Roshelle Darlene Hudson, Co-founder of the Southern Unity Movement. "We are thrilled to continue this legacy and look forward to another impactful year."
According to Maurice Robinson-Cook, Co-Chair. we are expecting approximately 400-500 people to attend this free event, which has grown to be the official LGBQ celebration for Martin Luther King Jr. holiday

About the Southern Unity Movement: Founded in 2019, the Southern Unity Movement is dedicated to building a unified Black LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, cultural education, and fostering multi- gender, intergenerational participation.
