Summary
As 2024 draws to an end, Julia Gillard, Chair of Wellcome and the 27th Prime Minister of Australia, will canvas the outlook for science and politics in 2025 and beyond. In 2024, more people voted in elections than ever before in human history in a single year. Ms Gillard will analyse the implications for global co-operation on pivotal issues like climate change, infectious disease and AMR, as well as discussing from Wellcome’s perspective how we can best meet the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
About the Speaker
Julia Gillard AC is the current Chair of Wellcome, a global charitable foundation which supports science to solve urgent health challenges. Ms. Gillard’s career has been dedicated to improving access to quality education and healthcare, and empowering women to take up positions of leadership across all areas of society.
