Let’s see how well Gambler 500 rigs conquer the alpine snow and ice of Southern Washington! This’ll be a point to point style Gambler similar to the 2024 Washington Gambler 500 through Yacolt Burn State Forest, Gifford Pinchot National Forest and the foothills of Mt. Adams from Camas Washington to Trout Lake Washington! Bring your sub zero clothes, your recovery gear, your shovels, your winter camping gear and your snow chains because it’s gonna be a cold one! ABG! 🇺🇸🏁🚗🚙🌲❄️🌨️☃️🛷🏔️🏕️🦅
Rescheduled from early January to late November for safety reasons, also a discovery pass or equivalent required for entry, explanation for both in the discussion. Toboggan run stickers will be for sale at the airfield meetup. OnX off-road with downloaded maps for the area is heavily recommended.
We’ll be meeting up at Grove Field (1W1 for pilots), the Camas airstrip. Parking there opens at 6am, drivers meeting followed by sign in, discovery pass checks and sticker sales at 9am then we’ll be heading out at 9:30am. Please be respectful of the airfield and keep all cars in the airfield parking lot, no donuts, no burnouts, no sirens and no excessive honking while we’re there. We’ll chain up or air down once we hit Jones Creek OHV Trailhead. Overnight camping at the airfield and trailhead is prohibited, overnight camping location will be posted in discussion once we find it.
For the drive itself we’ll be sticking together in a large convoy throughout the duration of the journey, everyone regardless of rig capability does the same route. This way if someone gets stuck, they won’t get left behind. The very front and back is reserved for built 4x4s with working radios only. Don’t know if we’re gonna stick to this plan but hey, we guarantee some form of chaos. The whole route is on OnX offroad, a link to it is in the discussion. It’ll be a shorter distance drive than the 2024 WAG but we’re pretty sure with all the snow it’s gonna take all day. Once we get to Trout Lake we’ll set up camp outside of town and then we can party. Campfires are allowed, just bring firewood, trust me everything already out there is gonna be too wet.
