Welcome to the WSU Kitsap Salmon Docent Training. We ask that you participate in all sessions.
Below is the schedule for our multi-day training:
- Day 1: Sunday, October 6th: 10:00am to 3:30pm. In-person training at OC Poulsbo campus and tour of Merle Hayes Salmon Enhancement Center. More details to be announced.
- Day 2: Tuesday, Oct. 8th : 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Virtual training with regional experts.
- Day 3: Thursday, Oct. 10th : 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Virtual training with regional experts.
- Day 4: Saturday, Oct. 12th : 10:00am to 3:30pm. In-person field trip training. Location(s) to be announced
Our training culminates with the opportunity to become a docent at the annual Kitsap Salmon Tours event on November 2nd, and at salmon viewing sites on multiple Saturdays throughout November, giving trainees the chance to share what they’ve learned with the public. Attendees who sign up to participate in a 2-hour shift as a streamside docent will receive a FREE 70-page waterproof Kitsap Salmon Field Guide, available only to Kitsap Salmon Docents.
Registration deadline is September 30th. Space is limited! Full refunds may be administered through September 25th, 2024, after which participants will not be refunded. Scholarships are available for qualifying applicants.
