About this Event
2023 RGME Spring Symposium at Vassar College: "Between Past and Future:
Building Bridges between Special Collections and Teaching for the Liberal Arts"
This Symposium, organized by both the RGME and Special Collections at Vassar College, showcases initiatives and developments for "Building Bridges between Special Collections and Teaching for the Liberal Arts". In 2024, Vassar presents a new catalogue on the Medieval and Renaissance books in Special Collections and the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center. An exhibition displays a selection from them alongside some medieval objects in the Art Center.
The companion Symposium gathers specialists, scholars, teachers, students, librarians, curators, collectors, vendors, and others to discuss these achievements and accomplishments elsewhere, to set them in the wider context. The Symposium program presents reports, observations, and discoveries in multiple fields. They include descriptions of work-in-progress, collaborative projects, challenges, and new opportunities.
The speakers include Vassar alumns, faculty, and staff; RGME Associates, including the Director; and others. Some represent both Vassar and the RGME, including the RGME Director who is a Vassar Alum.
