DIVISIONS
Juniors: Ages 8-13
Seniors: Ages 14-18
Youth may compete as individuals or on a team.
Six youth per team.
CONTEST COMPONENTS:
1. 8-12 Placing Classes
Classes can consist of any combination of breeding and/or market classes within beef, swine, sheep, and goat species. Performance data and/or a production scenario may be incorporated into one or more of these classes. [50pts ea.]
2. Reasons
Juniors will deliver two sets; Seniors will deliver at least three sets. [50pts ea.]
Notes should not be used when giving reasons.
3. Questions
Juniors & Seniors will also complete a set of 10 questions [5pt ea, 50 pts total] on one of the non-reasons classes.
The ultimate goal of livestock judging is to compare your perception of an animal against the ideal and then contrast your opinion with that of another individual or group of individuals. Gain confidence in defending your decisions and justifications.
