About this Event
We warmly invite people from all walks of life, as well as Chinese music performers and enthusiasts, to join us in witnessing the launch of the Australian Association of Chinese Traditional Music Association. Together, let us celebrate the inaugural concert of the Melbourne Youth Chinese Orchestra (MYCO), performed by Melbourne’s talented youth.
The event is divided into several sections.
The first section is the Launch Ceremony of the Australian Association of Chinese Traditional Music Incorporated. Established in November 2019, the Association aims to promote and develop the spread and exchange of Chinese national orchestral music in Australia, fostering a fusion of Chinese folk music and Australia's multicultural landscape. However, soon after its founding, the Association faced a challenging two-year pandemic period. Despite organizing and supporting numerous Chinese folk music performances and events, it has remained relatively unknown. This launch ceremony signifies a new chapter in the Australian folk music and arts community.
The second section is the debut concert of the Melbourne Youth Chinese Orchestra (MYCO). This performance will showcase a diverse array of musical styles, ranging from traditional Chinese music to East-West fusion pieces. Audiences will enjoy Chinese national orchestral ensemble pieces, as well as performances by guzheng ensembles, Chinese percussion ensembles, chamber orchestras, and choirs, revealing the unique charm of Chinese music. We hope for the enthusiastic participation of many, bringing energy and excitement to the debut concert of the Melbourne Youth Chinese Orchestra.
