About this Event
The University of Washington's Chapter of Engineers Without Borders presents our 2024 Impacts Gala. This event will showcase and raise money for our current projects. We welcome professional engineers, professors, supporters, family, and friends. Refreshments and hor d'oeuvers will be served. Attire is semi-formal. An auction will be held containing a variety of items including, art from our recent international trips, gift cards to local goods and services, and even sets of skis.
All proceeds will go to funding our projects both local and abroad. Currently we are partnered with communities in Mchenga, Malawi and Tortuga, Nicaragua and are working to improve access to clean drinking water and sanitation by designing and constructing latrine blocks as well as water storage and distribution systems. We work very closely within the community to hire local experts and ensure all projects can be sustained independently. Additionally, we send club members to the communities to scout potential design issues, aid in the construction process, and obtain direct feedback. Locally we are increasing on campus accessibility by developing and installing wheelchair charging stations. Additionally, we are challenging students to approach issues of sustainability by designing and constructing solar panel charging stations.
