4-H Summer Sew School for Cowlitz County youth is coming, Monday through Friday, June 24th-28th, 2024, at the WSU Extension Office, 304 Cowlitz Way, Kelso, WA. Cowlitz County 4-H Sewing and Textile Advisors will teach sewing skills to beginners from 9 a.m-11 a.m. and to youth with sewing experience from noon to 3 p.m. each day. Participants will learn straight stitching, hand sewing, use of a simple pattern and basic sewing supplies to create personal items and garments. Each participant will provide their own sewing machine with accessories and an instruction manual. A limited number of machines are available for use on a first-paid basis.
Participants are part of the Cowlitz County 4-H Youth Program and will be able to exhibit their items in the 4-H Department at the Cowlitz County Fair, July 24th-27th, 2024. The 4-H Summer Sew School is open to all youth who have completed the 3rd grade through 12th grade. The cost is $30 per student and $20 for each additional sibling. The fee includes sewing supplies for beginners and a resource notebook.

A required orientation session for parent or caregiver will be held on Monday evening, June 17th, 2024, at the WSU Extension Office, 304 Cowlitz Way, Kelso, WA, beginning at 6:30 p.m. for beginning sewers
and 7 p.m. for returning 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year sewers. Parking is available across the street from the WSU Extension office on 4th Ave. North.
