2023 County 4-H Communication Arts Contest will be held on Sunday, 04/30/2023 from 4 pm to 6 pm at the NDSU Extension Ward County Extension Office, 900 13th Street SE Minot ND in combination with Mountrail County. Flyer and Registration link was emailed.
Registration deadline is Tuesday, 04/25/2023 by 8 am
What is Communication Arts? It is an event to practice and showcase public speaking skills. This event takes place at three levels, county, district, and state. The North Dakota 4-H Communication Arts program’s primary objectives:
• Help participants develop communication skills that are useful throughout a lifetime
• Provide participants with an opportunity to practice their skills before a group
• Provide participants with an opportunity to gather and organize information, equipment and props for public presentations
• Develop participants’ confidence in making public presentations
• Evaluate and enhance participants’ communication skills
Communication Arts Powtoon/Video:
Who can participate? Active 4-H youth ages 5 to 18 may participate at the county level. Please keep in mind that Cloverbuds (ages 5-8) do not qualify to go on to District and State levels. (But it’s great practice!)
County will be held in-person with Mountrail and Ward County combined.
District will be 05/31/2023 hosted by McHenry County at TGU Towner School, 302 2nd St SE, Towner, ND 58788 with check-in at 8:30 am contest beginning at 9 am Junior and Senior division first place participants in each category from each District contest are eligible to exhibit their winning presentation at the North Dakota State Fair (NDSF) Communication Arts Contest. District first place Senior Division (completing 7th through 12th grades) participants are eligible for a scholarship to attend the Extension Youth Conference (EYC) 06/ 19-22/2023 in Fargo.
State will be held at NDSF on 07/23/2023. The top five place winners are selected at the State contest. Premium pool dollars are awarded.
