About this Event
To be eligible to register for the dance program audition, and submit a video, auditioners must FIRST apply for admission academically to Oklahoma City University.
We prefer that prospective students take the ACT or SAT tests. A composite (verbal + math) score of at least 21 for the ACT or 1600 for the SAT will qualify a prospective student for auditioning. If a student has not been able to take the ACT or SAT, a high school GPA of 3.3 or above as calculated by the OKCU Office of Admission will meet the minimum audition eligibility requirement. When a prospective students has taken the ACT or SAT, then we will use the composite score for determining audition eligibility in place of the GPA requirement option.
Transfer Students: Transfer students are required to submit college transcripts to be evaluated to be eligible to audition as part of their academic application to Oklahoma City University. Transfer students with less than 27 completed semester credit hours of academic courses must have qualifying ACT or SAT scores as described above for entering freshmen and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. Transfer students for all degree programs with over 26 completed semester credit hours of academic courses must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. College transcripts must be submitted as part of the academic application by the October 17, 2021 deadline. If you have any questions regarding our audition process please contact Evelyn Wasson at [email protected] or 405-208-4955.
NOTE: The October audition is an Early Decision/Early Commitment audition. This means that those attending this audition wish to become a student in the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment in fall 2022 and have selected Oklahoma City University as their first choice university/college and the OKCU dance program as their first choice dance program. Students should not be applying to or attending auditions for other programs after attending the early decision/early commitment audition. We will notify auditioners of the audition results as soon as possible. Auditioners who are accepted must make an early commitment to OKCU and the Ann Lacy School in November to become a dance major for fall 2022, applying for financial aid if needed, making a commitment deposit, making a housing deposit, and taking other steps in good faith to become an OKCU student in fall 2022, subject to acceptance for admission by the university. Commitment deposits must be submitted no later than February 1, 2022 or a dancer’s position may be forfeited. Those needing to wait until May 1st to decide which university they wish to attend should plan to attend our March audition.
