ALL ABOUT THAT HALLYU COM-ON IS BACK!
The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. (KCCDC) is teaming up with CD and The Players, Kpop757, KDC, and the local K-Pop fan community to host the ultimate Korean pop culture celebration on Saturday, October 23 starting at 2 p.m.!
Join us for a packed afternoon of live performances, panel discussions, contests, talent showcases, trivia fun and games, traditional cultural experiences, and special guest appearances. Explore the world of K-Pop with fellow fans and community members, and discover the wider world of Korean pop and traditional culture that has taken the world by storm. Special guest appearances include former K-Pop idol Alexandra Reid, pioneering African American member of the group RANIA and an active signer, model, and actress who appeared in the music video for Jamie Foxx’s song “You Changed Me,” among other accomplishments.
All are welcome to attend and RSVPs are not required for this event, however, there will be a capacity limit given the size of the available space. What is Hallyu?
Hallyu (한류) is the Korean term for the global phenomenon of Korean pop culture, also known as the Korean Wave. K-Pop is a major part of Hallyu, but this massive trend is bigger than any one industry or creative genre, and All About That Hallyu is designed to showcase this wider world of culture and excitement. Broadly speaking, Hallyu encompasses Korean pop music (K-Pop), films, stage performances, fashion, webtoons, animation, pop art, Korean celebrities and athletes, K-dramas, and now even beauty products, software development, game design, creative cuisine, and the latest, coolest tech.
Is there a cost to attend this event?
No, All About That Hallyu Com-On is free and open to the public! All are welcome, but please keep in mind that we may limit total entry to some spaces in the interest of safety, in case attendance is very high at some points.
Are masks required?
Yes, masks are mandatory. If you are sick or experiencing flu-like symptoms, we ask that you do not attend.
I didn’t sign up for the costume contest in advance. Can I still participate?
Yes! You can participate as long as your costume is related to South Korea, and you can sign up at the Kpop757 on the day of the event.
