2 Day Studio Lighting & Retouching Workshop
June 27–28

Featuring pro model Briana Noir
Coming to Sacramento this summer for a two day workshop hosted by Maison Femme.
This one is built a little differently.
Day one is all about building portraits intentionally in the studio. Not just throwing lights up and hoping something cool happens. We slow the process down and look at how a portrait actually comes together.
Lighting choices. Direction. Composition. Micro adjustments in posing. Expression. The subtle stuff that makes an image feel deliberate instead of accidental.
I’ll be tethering during my demos so everything lands immediately on a large screen. You see the image appear as we build it and you see exactly what changes when we move a light two inches or adjust a pose slightly. It turns the whole process into something much clearer and more analytical.
You’ll shoot as well, of course. But the goal here isn’t to crank through setups. It’s to understand what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.
Then day two shifts gears.
We move into the digital darkroom and focus heavily on retouching workflow, mostly inside Photoshop. I’ll walk through the way I approach portraits after the shoot and how the retouching stage either reinforces the image or quietly destroys it.
We’ll get into things like:
• Skin work that keeps texture and character
• Color and tonal control
• Finishing choices that actually matter
• Building a retouching workflow that makes sense for your work
No mystery steps. No secret sauce nonsense. Just real process.
I keep these workshops small so everyone actually gets access. You can ask questions, shoot, watch the demos up close, and have real conversations about the work.
If you’re trying to become more intentional with your portraits, both in camera and in post, this will be a really good two days.
Hope to see some of you in Sacramento.
