Utah is hosting its first Sacred Harp singing convention! Please join us in the Salt Lake Valley beneath the Wasatch Mountains, on the first Sunday of June and Saturday before, for two full days of singing out of The Sacred Harp: 2025 Edition. All are welcome, and attendance is free.We will sing from 9:30am to 3pm both Saturday and Sunday (registration open from 9), with an hour break for dinner on the grounds. If you are local, please consider bringing a dish to share.
VENUE INFORMATION: Singing will take place at the Sandy Utah West Stake Recreation Center, fifteen miles south of downtown Salt Lake City. The nearest light-rail station, Historic Sandy, is an eight-minute walk away and is served by the Blue Line. On-site parking is available for those arriving by car. The recreation center is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; please no alcohol or tobacco on the premises.
SOCIALS: A social will take place in the evening on Saturday, exact location and time TBA.
ADDITIONAL SINGING: Want to extend your time in Utah, before/after the convention, and get some extra singing in? On Thursday, June 4th, come to Neighbors Bar in SLC at 7pm for the fortnightly Sea Shanty Night. A few of us at Utah Sacred Harp will also be there. If you're still in SLC the evening of June 9th, we'd love to see you at our regular second-Tuesday singing! We'll sing out of the Shenandoah Harmony and Valley Pocket Harmonist. 7-9pm; contact Sam Thomas for venue details.
TRAVEL: The nearest international airport is Salt Lake City International (SLC), which is a major Delta hub. Salt Lake City can also be reached by train; the California Zephyr (Chicago to Emeryville) stops here once a day in each direction. Another nearby airport is Provo Municipal (PVU), served mainly by low-cost airlines. Most flights to PVU originate in the Western United States, plus a few from the East and Southeast.
