Baroque Betty is a dark, orchestral folk ensemble hailing from Eugene, OR. Known for her vocal versatility, Betty Jaeger's artistic history spans well over a decade of singing and touring for wide ranges of project genres, yet she finds herself closest to home within organic minimalism and swooping orchestral ballads. Her lyrics are written with the whimsy of literary antiquity, with themes of grief, grit, and dreamlike dissociation from a sordid reality. With sparse guitar styling and soaring string-laden melodies, Baroque Betty will lead the listener on a journey that's fashioned more in likeness to a fairy tale from Grimm than Disney.CelloPoetica is a creative duo project that combines the talents of spoken word poet Jorah LaFleur and cellist Nisha Calkins. Nisha and Jorah share a love of exploratory conversations. As collaborators and friends, they find joy in talking to each other. Onstage, both artists bring decades of individual craft experience and fresh excitement about how to communicate together via their different, uniquely compatible, forms. Each show contains experimental and spontaneous elements. Curiosity sings. At the core, this project is an interplay between an instrument that invokes voice, and a voice attempting to bring musicality to meaning.
