About this Event
The Alana Foundation and the UCLA School of Education & Information Studies, in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)’s Commission on Education and Communication, EARTHDAY.ORG and #NatureForAll, invite you to the first-ever Nature-based Education Summit.
Governments, organizations and individuals are becoming increasingly aware that educational systems must evolve to address climate, pollution and biodiversity crises. In parallel, there is a growing recognition that our connection to nature needs to be restored, in the face of rapid urbanization and environmental degradation. Nature-based Education is an inclusive ecosystem of approaches that brings nature into the core of play, learning and resilience.
This free invitational Summit will gather educators, designers, policymakers and changemakers to showcase research and inspiring cases to strengthen the connection between kids and nature, improve academic achievement, support physical and mental health for people of all ages, enhance climate resiliency in communities, and lead to care for the Earth. Perspectives from the Global North and Global South will be included.
Join us at the scenic UCLA Lab School, a pioneering campus designed by the renowned architects Richard Neutra and Robert Alexander to create a learning environment that allows students to play and learn in, and from, nature.
