Please join our 5/4 8AM We Hike to Heal Event at Fryman Canyon in San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles CA!

My name is Ashley and I'm the California Naturalist and Art Therapist hosting this hike.
If you're interested in meeting folks who enjoy hiking, art therapy, and nature journaling then this may be the event for you~ We will meet at the parking lot/trailhead start at 8AM, hike up Fryman Canyon to the TreePeople Headquarters for a snack/hydration break and artmaking, and loop back around to the parking lot before 12PM. This hike is rated easy/moderate, takes about 1-2 hours, and is conveniently located in a residential area with a free parking lot and restrooms.
DESCRIPTION OF THE HIKE:
This 2-3 mile loop hike is on a stable part-paved, part-dirt with 450 ft elevation gain with nice views of the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles. It is lined with Chaparral covered ridges and wooded canyons surrounded by residential neighborhoods. California black walnut trees arch over much of the wide trail, providing some shade and beauty along part of the trail for us to enjoy.
The hike should be over between 10AM - 12P.M., as it depends on how we feel during the snack/hydration break and artmaking time. All are welcome to go at their own pace or race if they desire and if people are interested in going further, we can do part of the Betty Dearing Trail as well, but no pressure! Showing up is good enough. :) <3
WHAT TO BRING:
- One liter of water, snacks, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, hiking boots or shoes with good traction, daypack, hiking poles/sticks, shorts and a T-shirt or long pants and long sleeved shirt, depending on weather.
- Hiking boots or shoes with good traction encouraged, though I respect if you regularly wear minimalist shoes or barefoot shoes like I do.
- Art supplies and your own nature journal, sketchbook, etc.! I will bring a small bag of basic supplies like pens, pencils, and 1 set of colored pencils we can share as well. :)
