Brooch Club #4: Technical Development
As your concepts begin to take shape, this session shifts focus toward the technical and material realisation of your work.
We’ll explore a range of approaches to brooch mechanisms, cold connections, and material combinations - supporting the development of more resolved and wearable forms.
This session will include:
- Discussion and demonstration of brooch findings and mechanisms
- Exploration of cold connections and alternative construction methods
- Material testing and problem-solving in relation to your concept
- Group discussion around technical challenges and approaches
Bring along your journal, along with any materials, components, or works-in-progress you’d like to test or develop further.
This is a hands-on, practical session - a space to refine how your ideas translate into form, and to build confidence in the technical aspects of your work. It is also an opportunity to discuss your work with the group and problem solve together.
As with all Brooch Club meets, this is a peer-focused event - ideal for jewellers with an existing practice.
Each Brooch Club meet is hosted in multiple locations (at the same time) - choose the best location for you. All meets are hosted via this Eventbrite profile - register to secure your spot.
Brooch Club is an initiative to bring our jewellery community together, supported by local Creative Spaces and JMGA NSW.
We request a small contribution to participate. Your donation of $15 on sign up helps cover running costs for organisers. However, if contributing isn’t possible for you right now, please don’t let that be a barrier. Everyone is welcome, regardless of financial means.
