On Friday, December 6, 2024, Pugwash Village will host its first annual Christmas parade, "Light up the Night," which will take place in the Village. This year's theme is "Light up the Night." We can not wait to see how it inspires creativity throughout our community. The Pugwash Christmas Parade Registration Form must be completed and submitted by Wednesday, December 4, 2024. It's easiest to complete your registration using the online form below. If you are completing the form by hand on paper, please return it to the Village Hall, Pugwash. Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00–1:00 p.m.
PARADE RULES
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THROUGH THE ENTIRETY OF THE PARADE APPLICATION FORM. THIS INCLUDES SAFETY, PARADE ROUTE AND RULES.
1. The 1st annual Christmas parade, “Light up the Night,” will occur in the Village of Pugwash on Friday, December 6, 2024. Please note that if the parade is postponed because of a significant rainfall/storm, weather permitting, the rain date will be Saturday, December 7, at 6:00 pm
2. Parade application forms must be completed and submitted by Thursday, December 4, 2024. It's easy to register using the online form below. If you're courting the form by hand on paper, please return it to the Village Hall, Pugwash, Monday through Friday between 9:00 and 1:00 pm. PLANNING YOUR FLOAT AND THE PARADE ROUTE
The Parade assembly will take place on King Street. Please come down to Water Street to be placed in the float lineup. Participants should be lined up at 5:30pm. The parade can begin at 6:00pm. The parade route will be King Street to Church Street, Victoria Street, and Water Street. Each entry will be given a number upon lining up for the judge’s judge'sence.
FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL PARTICIPANTS
•OBJECTS MUST NOT BE THROWN FROM VEHICLES/FLOATS - All handouts or treats can ONLY BE handed out to the crowd by participants walking on the street. ABSOLUTELY NO RUNNING OUT INTO MOVING PARADE.
•No one may get off the moving float. An adult must accompany all entries that have children participating.
•Please keep a safe float/entry distance to avoid crowd congestion and adhere to safety rules.
Awards will be given for the following categories:
• Brightest Lights
• Most Original theme
• Best Float Design
• Best Music or Performance
• Judges Choice
4. SANTA CLAUS
The Village of Pugwash presents Santa Claus. No other entry is permitted to have Santa Claus represented.
5. Tree Lighting
The tree lighting will occur in Eaton Park, Water Street, immediately following the parade.
6. Santa Claus will meet and greet the children with a treat bag at What’s for Diner, 11054 Route 6 Pugwash, from 7:00 to 8:00 at Whats for Diner will provide hamburgers and hotdogs to children while they wait to speak with Santa.
