About this Event
Step back in time with a live 18th-century pottery demonstration by Erich and Janice Steinhagen of Steinhagen Pottery in Griswold, Connecticut. They will demonstrate traditional pottery techniques used during the colonial period, including forming pottery on the wheel and decorating pieces using sgraffito, a historic scratching method used by German and English potters. The program will also highlight unusual pottery forms found in early America. Attendees will have the opportunity to view finished pieces and learn about historic pottery traditions.
