The Better Business Bureau (BBB) will hold their annual Secure Your ID Day “Shred Fest” on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Residents are encouraged to attend the event and take a key step in identity protection by shredding and properly disposing of their sensitive paper documents. We will also be collecting e-waste items (computers, laptops, monitors, servers, networking equipment, cell phones, adapters, hard drives, “Properly destroying documents that carry information you don’t want getting into the hands of crooks is an important first step to fighting identity theft, but it doesn’t end there,” said Carmen Million, BBB President. “That’s why BBB experts will also be on hand offering important advice and simple steps everyone can take to prevent ID theft in their daily lives, both online and off.”

When: Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon
Where: EBR Police Department, 9000 Airline Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA
This event is for Consumers Only. We will only accept up to three boxes or bags of documents per vehicle to be shredded. Papers should be removed from binders, but staples, paper clips do not have to be removed. We ask that consumers go through their boxes before the event to make sure there are no objects other than
paper.
Assisting the BBB in this event to properly and safely destroy documents is Secure Shredding & Recycling. The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will be there to accept nonperishable food items. While this is a free event, it is also an opportunity to benefit a local organization to help feed the hungry in our community.
The Event Underwriters are Citizens Bank & Trust, AARP Louisiana, and LaCap Federal Credit Union. Event partners are The Advocate, Secure Shredding & Recycling, BRPD and Louisiana Attorney General.
