13th Annual Mark Spector Golf Classic

Golf and mix and mingle with 20 celebrities: athletes, coaches, media, business personalities and most importantly, help some kids who simply want the same sporting experiences we’ve all had in our lives.

Together we can open up the possibilities to those kids whose scope of opportunity isn’t as wide as it should be, and busying kids with sport, because we all know of the benefits.

I’ve been lucky. I grew up with sport. Rinks, gyms, fields, teammates — all of it shaped who I became. And the older I get, the more I realize how important that access really was.

That’s why Sport Central matters.

In 2026, we’ll tee it up for the 13th Mark Spector Golf Classic, again on the fourth Wednesday in July. What started as a good excuse to get some friends together for a round of golf has grown into something much bigger — a community effort built around one simple idea: kids come first.

Sport Central exists to make sure kids get the chance to play — to belong to a team, to ride a bike, to learn the lessons that only sport can teach. Confidence. Accountability. How to win, how to lose, and how to show up the next day regardless. Those lessons don’t go away.

This tournament doesn’t work without the people who believe in that mission. Our sponsors and partners who step up year after year. Our golfers who bring the energy, the laughs, and yes — some questionable swings. And the Sport Central staff and volunteers who quietly turn generosity into real impact for kids and families across our community.

The organization itself has grown, too. Sport Central is reaching more kids, moving into a new building, and building a stronger foundation for the future. I’m proud to share leadership of that next chapter with Warren Zaplachinski, whose commitment to kids, community, and doing things the right way makes him a perfect fit to help guide what comes next.

Sure, there will be great golf again. A lineup of athletes and personalities from across the sports community. Good food. A full day that goes by way too fast. But the real result shows up long after the last putt drops — when a kid gets their first set of gear, their first bike, or their first chance to feel like they belong.

That’s why we keep doing this.
