In honor of Veterans Day, Quincy Historical Society will welcome John Magnarelli, a North Quincy native and Vietnam veteran, for a presentation and book signing of his memoir “11B10: Memories of a Light Weapons Infantryman in Vietnam”. The program will be held on Wednesday, November 13th, at 7pm, at the Adams Academy, 8 Adams Street. John Magnarelli grew up in North Quincy and was drafted into the Army on August 12th, 1968. His memoir details the events of his tour in Vietnam between May 1969 and April 1970 “without glorification or exaggeration.” He presents the experiences of one soldier from boot camp to meals, to Army life, the war in Vietnam, and the stabilizing force of home even when we’re worlds away.
Magnarelli’s memoir has been described as a time capsule for a “period which impacted those who served and those who didn’t.”
This event is open to all and free to attend.
