11: Typographic Curveball

Utilizing the Dave Peat and Smithsonian Collections of rare metal type, we’ll discuss strategies for composing and printing fragile antique and ornamental type. After demonstrations in the use of circular quads along with a few other tricks, each student will explore typesetting curves or waves to be locked up, printed, and exchanged in a small edition.

This workshop is offered in conjunction with the APA workshop, but participants do NOT need be conference attendees to enroll in this workshop.
