108 is considered a sacred number in yogic tradition. The practice of 108 Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) is a traditional yogic ritual that can be practiced at key seasonal moments or as a personal inner reset. In this case, we gather specifically during the Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice: moments of transition in the natural cycle of light and darkness. It is physically and mentally challenging, yet often experienced as deeply clarifying and transformative. The continuous repetition brings together breath, intention, bandha, and awareness. It builds internal heat, supports circulation and vitality (prana), and helps release stuck energy and tension patterns. At the same time, the practice invites focus, surrender, and presence: one breath and one movement at a time. Beyond its physical effect, it can support mental clarity, emotional processing, and grounding.
Practicing 108 Sun Salutations is not a competition or a performance, but a steady, guided practice with space to modify and rest. Many experience it as a moving meditation that brings clarity, energy, and presence.
