About this Event
On August 2nd 1914, thinker, writer and civil rights activist James Baldwin was born in Harlem, New York. His work touches on many topics that have a deep relevance to today and New York City: civil and human rights, police violence, racism, poverty, masculinity, gender, and queerness. These topics, his personal narrative style and the general courage of his work, render his writing timeless. We ask ourselves: “What can Baldwin's legacy tell us about society then, now and how what he would say about New York 100 years later.”
