About this Event
Join Marsha McAllister in 100 Drawings - develop a personal visual vocabulary of imagery, content and subject matter that you can later use for finished work. We will be moving through a large quantity of drawings or paintings using a quick, fluid and intuitive process.
Create your choice of 100 drawings in three weeks ending with a review and discussion on the last date. This process is designed to help you let go of the ‘masterpiece syndrome”, working through ideas and not necessarily technique (although some new techniques may surface in the process).
You can use imagery that is around you, i.e., objects in your home, natural settings, contrived still-life’s, and of course, your imagination or if you are working on a series already, use this process to expand on that series.
The three week time period equals about 5-6 drawings a day, so think about them as sketches, spending 5-10 minutes on the drawings. If you have the time you can develop the pieces more fully, but remember the important part of this exercise is to move through ideas, not create finished work.
We will meet weekly as a group over zoom, where each artist will present their pieces from the previous week, followed with an open discussion with the group.
This is an online class and will be held on zoom. Class takes place on Tuesdays in February 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, and 2/25 from 4:30-7:00 pm
Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.
A Note on Ticket Pricing: We are experimenting with offering sliding scale tickets in order to keep our classes accessible to as many community members as possible. There are three price tiers. Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.
Tuition Assistance: Tuition assistance is available for Alchemy classes and workshops if finances are a barrier. Apply for tuition assistance here.
